So this girl right here is one of my very good friends that I've know since secondary school. Well, I say that but really we only became proper friends like two or three years ago. She's amazing really; kind-hearted, energetic, giving, loving, and most importantly, passionate about Jesus. I got her to talk about herself a bit below:
Hey Atinuke. Would you like to introduce yourself?
Heyy guys! I'm Atinuke. I was saved October 2015 and since then God has been stirring me to use my gifts for His glory. I started singing a while after that and I really enjoy writing music, poetry and spoken word. Talking is probably my most consistent hobby and I love speaking to people and getting to know them. I am an aspiring doctor/medical student and I can't wait to see what God will do with my career in future. I would love to call myself adventurous but my adventures have boundaries (I don't like the cold). Other than that , I love parks, beaches and walking, anything to get my mind out of the 21st century busyness and I'm excited to share all I have with everyone!
Isn't she just a cutie? So as you've read, she's a songwriter, poet and spoken word artist, AND she's a medical student who's working towards becoming a doctor. How bossy is that? Let's be honest, that's very bossy.
How on earth do you manage to do it all? Being a medical student is already a full-time job (and part-time and overtime and late night shifts), so how are you able to be a student and all these other things? I take it that you're also a church leader, yes? Tell me more about that.
Listen, bruh I'm still trying to figure that out but there's one scripture that gets me through uni and it's Philippians 3:13. I forget what is behind me and press on. I learn from mistakes.
I rely on the Holy Spirit to give me wisdom, energy and make me teachable.
And when I need to rant, cry , scream, I either do it in my quiet time or with my friends. Also having examples of people who have made it is something that gives me a peace as well. God used them. He will and is using me too.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead.
- Philippians 3:13
And yeah I'm a church leader. I sing on the worship team because that's the ministry God put on my heart to join and I'm also part of the concierge team, which is a ministry that is meant to make new people feel welcome. I'm also part of the music ministry, so I perform at the events hosted by our church as well. I didn't really expect my service to be so music orientated, but that's just God. I love serving and I learn a lot that I apply to my everyday life. I don't think you can fully develop a passion for souls without serving.
Amen girl. It's very important to rely on the Holy Spirit because we honestly cannot be the best versions of ourselves without His strength and wisdom. I just have one more question for you, Atinuke. You have a website called Living In Waterfalls. It's amazing and so Spirit-filled. How did you come up with the name?
It was based on John 7:37-39, if anyone wants water let him come and drink and living water will flow from him (paraphrased). I don't want just living water to flow from me, I wanted a waterfall and when I was praying that's what I saw.
I wanted a waterfall constantly being poured into and poured out and that's my aim for my site and my life.
On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, "Anyone who is thirsty may come to Me! Anyone who believes in Me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, 'Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.'" (When He said "living water," He was speaking of the Spirit, who would be given to everyone believing in Him. But the Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus had not yet entered into His glory).
